Medline has opened a 600,000-square-foot site in Douglasville, GA, outside of Atlanta, where it will make its new FitRight adult incontinence products on technologically advanced, high speed lines. The new facility will create 150 new jobs in the areas. “We are excited to have such a well respected and nationally recognized company like Medline join our rapidly growing bioscience community,” says Bioscience and Health IT development vice president David Hartnett of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. “This is a real win for Douglasville, which is rapidly becoming a desired location for companies like Medline and keeps us clearly on track to take a leadership position as a hub for medical and surgical products manufacturing and distribution.” Medline, the largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies in the U.S. and the leading provider of disposable incontinence products to the long-term care and hospital markets, is adding FitRight adult incontinence briefs to its product lineup. FitRight is designed to enhance the comfort and dignity of long-term care residents with product improvements including better fit around the legs, odor elimination, improved absorption rates and skin-safe closures. “There is nothing more demeaning than when a resident or patient has an incontinent episode and their brief does not perform adequately,” says Dan Love, president of Medline’s personal care division. “With Medline’s FitRight, we have completely redesigned adult incontinence products to fit better, be more absorbent and more comfortable to give residents a sense of normalcy and independence.” FitRight is made with a superabsorbent polymer that absorbs more fluid and feels dryer longer than a typical brief. FitRight is also the only brief that offers soft anti-leak guards to reduce leakage. It is made with a “4D Core with Odor Protection” that wicks fluid away from the body to provide comfort for the resident. FitRight is also designed to be more discreet with a garment-like fit to help promote more confidence, mobility and independence. According to Medline executives, the equipment at the new facility is the fastest and most technologically advanced of its kind in the country, operating at twice the speed of other incontinence product machines. The massive machines measure about the length of a football field and stand two stories high.
